FEEDING THE HUMAN RAMs

Tell the people you care about, that you care about them. Because if it gets late, you’ll never get an opportunity to do it, ever. This is the best way to make memories.

Till October 2018, I thought that I didn’t love my naani. I believed that I didn’t care about her. In the month of August 2018, she went away. Well, it took me 2 months after her death to realize that I loved her, a lot. And now I regret of not sitting beside her, talking to her about my friends, my school, my dreams, my ambitions. I wish I have had some brains back then. I wish I learnt how to make Raajma from her. I wish I had googled remedies to treat her just like I do when I feel something’s wrong with me. I wish I told her that I cared about her. And my list of wishes isn’t going to end. I never allowed her to teach me anything;  I would just walk away. But when she went, she taught me a great lesson. She taught me to make memories with the people of importance in my life, so that I could cherish those when they are not with me.

I learnt something else too. I understood the importance of letting people know what they mean to me. Yeh! That might not be something we do, right? We just let out all our emotions (especially the toxic ones) on people who are ready to lend their ears and once that is done, we turn around and walk away. We think nobody is interested in knowing what we think of them. We think that that might seem childish. But trust me that’s all people want to hear. So, it’s not just telling your parents that you love them, but also telling them that you appreciate the efforts they make in your life as well as theirs. I have been writing down my feelings for certain people (majorly family) and have been mailing them (not literally mailing). The feedback I have received has been good so far. Some cried a little, some smiled a lot and some asked for a moment to believe what just happened.

My secret of making memorable moments, is to give my special touch to everything I do for people; even if that means making a birthday card for my brother and simply sticking a print out of shirt-pant (he asked me to give him a pair of shirt-pant on his birthday) with a note that says “You are the best” or welcoming my new Paabhi (Paabhi means Bhaabhi in Punjabi) with an audio letter that tells nothing more than that she is as kind as my brother. This is how I let my feelings flow; and also feed some data to my RAM. What are you planning to do? Do what you do the best and make it special. Let your emotions flow.

Take a moment, sit down with your parents or family or friends and make memories. Because at the end only memories will fuel your journey!
