You know Punjabis are known for their anger issues. And who would be a better person to talk about it than myself! I get angry a lot. One reason for me getting angry could be because, growing up, I have seen people get angry when things weren’t just Perfect! I stay in a locality where the majority residents are Punjabis, so getting angry didn’t seem out of place. In fact, it seemed like second nature.
So, when I met my best friend, I was shocked because this human doesn’t get angry! Literally, the calmest, coolest and the most compost human being I have ever met! I wonder how, can somebody not get angry! Well, yeah, it’s just a way to express one’s disbelief and frustration. Also, isn’t it the only way one can get things done from others? After all anger is the most favorite weapon of almost all the teachers to get things done. Scold a kid, and get the work done.
But the question is, is anger safe? If you have ever experienced anger, you must be aware of this utmost desire to babble out whatever comes to your mind without giving it a second thought. Well, it might feel very relaxing in the moment, it might strain your relationship with the person listening to your babble.
A study published in the journal – “Stroke”, marked that people with anger issues were 40 % more likely to have a stroke than those who didn’t. It has been observed that while people get angry, they experience a rise in their blood pressure, which if not managed can lead to long – term blood pressure problems. This can in turn increase the risk of heart diseases. Some other side effects of anger are – anxiety, depression, impaired decision making and headaches.
Everything is interconnected; if you speak ill, you feel ill and anger often makes you say things you don’t really mean. Maybe that is the reason, an angry person is often compared to a wild animal; if let loose, has the potential to destroy everything in way.

Ha! Yeah, so each time you have felt that you have no control over your anger, you were actually just fooling yourself. We as humans, have complete control over what we feel, we do and we speak. Its just that with everything that we are so engrossed in doing, we have lost connection with our control system. Anger is controllable. With a little practice, I am sure, one can handle it better.
I have been listening to Premanand Maharaj lately and he says that when you realise you are experiencing anger, start chanting the name of the Higher power you believe it. He suggests chanting the name of Shrimati Radha Rani. I have tried it, works for me!
