The Day for Mommies!

DISCLAIMER – I MUSN’T HAVE COVERED EVERYTING IN THIS BLOG BECAUSE WHEN WE START TALKING ABOUT OUR PARENTS, WE TEND TO MISS OUT A LOT OF THINGS. I HOPE I COVER THE REMAINING IN A SIMILAR BLOG NEXT YEAR.

A very Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. If you are a kid readding my blog, please wish your mummy a very very very Happy Mother’s Day on my behalf.

I am unsure of how to begin this blog but I think I’ll begin by stating what all of us already know. I heard this in school – maybe our Marathi teacher told us – that Bhagwanji made Moms because he couldn’t be everywhere at the same time to take care of all his children. So, does that mean our moms are angels?

Mommies go through a lot of pain during pregnancy and also while giving birth. So much that we obviously can’t imagine. She doesn’t give up until she has brought her child in this world healthy, happy and safe. She won’t stop there. She protects us from all kinds of debacles, fiascos, horrors, failures and above all, from the occasional terrors of daddy’s daatt. She tries her best to give us the healthiest future possible. She might not go out and earn but the food she makes – that is either packed in tiffin boxes or served hot – can be compared to none other; not even to that of a 7-star hotel. I see, today a lot of moms are working moms. I salute these women who go out, work and still remove enough time to cook for their kids, be with them and to love and pamper them.

The moms in my house, are warriors. I think moms everywhere in the world are warriors, aren’t they? My daadu was in Merchant Navy and he used to stay on the ship for almost the entire year. On the other hand, my daadi, used to be here, at home in Dahanu, taking care of her 4 kids all by herself. When my cousins were looking forward to starting new journeys of their lives – degree college, new job and new responsibilities – all in Mumbai, my Badi Maa moved in with her 3 children in an apartment in Mumbai away from her husband and the rest of us, just to make sure that her children had good support. Speaking of my Mummy, I don’t mean to brag, but she is quite a reason for me writing this blog or any blog in that case and for everything that I have done.

I am not saying that fathers don’t play a role in shaping a child’s life. But because today is Mother’s Day, let’s just focus on our Moms. Speaking of which, why don’t you guys write down in the comments section about the efforts your mom has put in to make you the person you are today! I would love to read those.

I honestly didn’t know today was Mother’s Day until I got a notification from my calendar. I thought 12th May is celebrated as Mother’s Day. But now that all of us know it is Mother’s Day, let’s at least tell our moms how much we appreciate everything they do and have done for us.
